PLANNING COUNCIL PARTICIPATION

Planning Council Brochure - English or Spanish (pdf)

All council and committee meetings are open to the general public.  Please check the calendar for meeting dates and times.

The Planning Council is a 39 member volunteer planning group comprised of community members who have been appointed by the CEO to serve a two-year term.

The CEO appoints individuals to the planning council who have a wide range of viewpoints and expertise including health care providers, public health officials, people of various race, ethnic background and sexual orientation.  At least one-third of the members of the planning council must be people living with HIV.  These members bring the consumers’ point of view to planning council discussions.  Each December, the Council elects officers (Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary) to serve a one year term.

The Chair of the Planning Council assigns each member to work on one or more of the five standing committees.  Committees include: Affected Community, Comprehensive HIV Planning, Operations, Priority and Allocations and Quality Improvement.  Committee members will typically commit four hours a month to attend committee meetings and related activities, such as special workgroups. Full Council members will commit an additional two hours per month for Planning Council meetings.

Applications for Appointment to the Planning Council and for external committee membership are available through the Council's office of support as well as on the website (see below).  Completed applications should be returned to the Office of Support.  You may attach a resume or vita if you desire, it is not however, a requirement.

Each applicant will be contacted and scheduled to meet with the Membership Committee for an interview to determine interest, experience, background and time availability.  Please be aware that the minimum time required to participate as a Ryan White Planning Council Member is four (4) hours a month. Your time commitment is vital to the workings of the Council.

Conflict of Interest: Applicants who are members of, employees of, or who have a financial interest in an organization seeking Ryan White funds can serve on the Council. However, they cannot vote on awarding funds when their particular agency is involved.

You can apply to be a member of the Planning Council here.

You can apply to be a committee or workgroup member here.

If you would like to receive an application by mail or email, please email your name and mailing address or call the Office of Support at 832-927-RYAN (7926).
